Chinical Evaluation of Surgical Correction of Complete Atrioventricular Septal Defect with Down Syndrome During the First Year of Life

Abstract
|
|
|
A clinical study on 32 patients with Down syndrome with complete atriventricular septal defect who were admitted and operated in the Children Hosptal of Pittsburg for recent 10 years was performed.
The author devided 2 groups, one was operated below 6 month of age(Group 1) and the other was operated between 6-12 month of age(Group 2)
The result were summerized as follows :
1) There was no difference in operative motality between 2 groups.
2) There was no statistical difference in operative complications between 2 groups.
3) The period of staying and respiratory support in the intensive care unit were sttistically longer in the Group 1 than Group 2.
